Why are Six Sigma Professionals Important?
Six Sigma is a technology, data-driven, and statistical approach to increasing productivity, originally developed for the manufacturing industry but adapted to other industries and service sectors. Six Sigma advocates quantitative rather than qualitative measures of success. Employees who use analytics, financial analysis, and project management to improve business functionality are those most involved with six sigma certification online India.
Responsibilities in Six
Sigma projects
There are seven
responsibilities, we will look at each individually.
· Leadership –
A leadership team
or board defines the purpose of the Six Sigma process. Just as a business
leader sets the tone and direction for achieving goals, the Six Sigma Board
sets goals for the team to achieve.
· Quality Board –
The Quality Council
or Six Sigma Leadership Team is a leadership group made up of senior management
who defines roles and responsibilities and establishes the infrastructure for
Six Sigma initiatives. Top management is also involved in selecting various
projects and allocating resources. They also assess the progress and impact
of six sigma green belt efforts on the
organization; and identify the strengths and weaknesses of these efforts. This
senior management consists exclusively of six sigma black belt who are process and
enterprise experts.
· Performance Manager -
The individual
responsible for overseeing the Six Sigma team work and assisting the Leadership
Council with ensuring that the team's work is completed in the desired manner.
The implementation manager ensures the success of the implementation plan and
resolves any issues that arise, arranges training if necessary and assists the
sponsor in motivating the team.
· Six Sigma Coach –
As the name suggests,
this person is a trainer and consultant who provides expert advice to process
owners and implementation teams. It collects and validates all important data
for team activities. He then analyses that data and helps the team succeed by
directing them where they need extra help. He is in constant touch with the
management group and project sponsors and communicates with them about various
aspects and progress made. As a Six Sigma trainer, it is important that the
person is a Black Belt Master.
· Team Member -
A member of staff working on a Six Sigma project who is assigned specific responsibilities within the project and deadlines for achieving specific project objectives. Team members perform specific Six Sigma tasks and collaborate with other team members within defined project timelines to achieve specifically defined goals.
· Sponsor -
The sponsor is the senior
manager who oversees the project and its improvement. This supports the overall
objectives of the process improvement and ensures business priorities are
addressed. He is also responsible for approving any kind of changes and
training the team to work towards the project plan. He applies all Six Sigma
principles to his management tasks and works with process owners to ensure
agreement at the end of improvement projects. The sponsor is the Master Black
Belt who serves as the representative of the leadership team.
· Process owner -
The person who
takes ownership of a process after the Six Sigma team has completed its work.
When a Six Sigma green belt project
is completed, the process owner is responsible for monitoring the project's
performance metrics after implementation. If changes to processes that are part
of a Six Sigma project are not working optimally, the process owner should
notify the project team of this, as this means that further improvements need
to be made.
